A new industry compliance standard for structural fasteners will be officially implemented globally in October 2026, bringing new standardized constraints to the production, trade and application of high-strength bolts, engineering expansion bolts and matching nut products. The new standard centered on ASTM F3125-26A focuses on the performance indicators, production testing and certification specifications of structural fasteners, and will be mandatory for imported high-tensile bolt groups and anchoring expansion bolt products in mainstream international markets.
The new standard puts forward stricter requirements on the mechanical properties, dimensional tolerance, surface treatment quality and fatigue resistance of structural fasteners. All imported high-strength bolts, expansion anchoring parts and supporting screw and nut products need to provide professional certification documents issued by ISO/IEC 17065 accredited institutions, and complete standardized testing of product tensile strength, shear resistance and anti-fatigue performance. This policy will effectively standardize the chaotic competition of low-quality and non-standard fastener products in the international market, and improve the overall safety and reliability of engineering fastening systems.
For the global fastener industry, the implementation of the new standard means that the industry entry threshold is further raised. Small and medium-sized production links that fail to meet the precision and performance standards will be phased out, while standardized and high-quality production capacity will gain more market advantages. In response to the new standard requirements, the industry is actively promoting standardized production transformation, optimizing product testing processes, and improving the overall compliance level of fastener products. In the long run, the unified international standard will help promote the standardized and high-quality development of the global fastener industry and optimize the benign competition pattern of the industrial chain.
